Winter Show Jumping

with use of instructor is optional at Ovenstone Equine

Once again, Ovenstone are kindly looking after our club jumps and are prepared to build lovely courses at the weekends for you to play on! This will be a great way to get winter jumping practice on a great surface!

Courses will be set up on Friday night in the Ovenstone outdoor arena, and you can book time directly with Viv and David. All you need to do is let them know your membership number at the time of booking. The course will be available from 7am to 9pm on Saturday and Sunday.

You could BYO Instructor (as long as they are fully insured) or book Viv Wilson who has recently attained her BHSII qualification - she is offering members a discounted rate of £10 for a private lesson or £15 for a group (In addition to arena hire fees). NEFRC will be running SJ instruction on some of these dates, please keep an eye on the club website or Facebook for details.

Evening Showing Training / Masterclasses

Improve your performance with our January Showing Evening Classes. January 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th This is an ideal opportunity to work in a showing class environment and get valuable feedback from a qualified and experienced Championship judge and producer Jo Jack. This is a great environment for young combinations or an outing for the older ones after a winter holiday.

THE WAY IT WILL WORK There will be no more than 5 in a group but more than 2. Each group will be allocated a 20min warm up slot in the indoor school. This will be warm up with no tuition but someone will be there to advise/watch everyone and will help if they feel extra help is required. After the warm up the usual format of a flat class will commence as usual with Jo as the judge and a steward. You will ride round with others as a ride and an individual show will be required. Class placings will then happen by the judge but with no rosette - this will be based on PERFORMANCE only. You will each get verbal feedback, tips and what to work on in the future. No need for smart dress and we can cope with dirty marks, the whole evening is performance based!

Start at 5.30, the order may change from week to week depending on people's timings but approximately: Leadrein (any type) 5.30pm First ridden (any type) 6.15pm 12hh (any type) 7pm 13&14h (any type) 7.45pm 15h + (any type) 8.30pm

Two day flatwork clinic

with Team Oakden at Dunbog Farm
Improve your flatwork and dressage test riding with James or Sarah. 40 minute sessions available either as a private lesson or shared (maximum of two). Day 1 – flatwork coaching and Day 2 – test riding and how to improve your dressage scores. Times: 10.30am – 3pm. Limited stabling available on Saturday night £25 for stable or £30 inc haylage. Hook up available £10 per night.

James Munro Clinic (open to all)

James is a hugely popular top class showing producer and judge who regularly has horses qualified and placed at the Horse of the Year Show and the Royal International Horse Show. He is travelling down to Fife to offer lessons, and he is friendly and encouraging of all stages of horse and rider. This training will be indoors. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If you cancel within 48 hours of your lesson and there is no waitlist, you will still be liable for the cost of the lesson.

Pippa Funnell MBE is an icon of British Eventing and the first winner of the Rolex Grand Slam of eventing. She is married to leading British showjumper William Funnell. Her notable results include: A member of the British team at two Olympic Games where she has won team silver, individual silver and individual bronze medals. Five time senior European squad member, winning multiple medals.She has won Burghley once and Badminton three times; in 2002 and 2003 with Supreme Rock and in 2005 with Primmore’s Pride. Pippa also has had a successful showjumping career alongside her eventing successes. She is also heavily involved with the breeding and producing of British-bred horses in partnership with her husband William Funnell and Donal Bardwell at The Billy Stud in Surrey.
